Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

This past weekend my wife, father, and I went to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. Overall I’m left with a split mind: (1) is everything we consider “art” actually of value (ie: is something valuable simply because it is labeled as “art”?), and (2) do we sometimes consider certain works as being “great art” simply because we are told to?

I’m left wondering if the people gawking over some of the art in this place actually understand what they are looking at (or even try to? — is art meant to be understood?). It was a beautiful building, and I loved the exhibits and art pieces in the different galleries. I would go back in a heart beat.

Anyway, here are some of my favorite photographs! Enjoy! There may be a PART TWO later.
